Delete your NuHealth account

You can delete your account and the personal information linked to it at any time. Here is how, what happens next, and what the law requires us to keep.

Three ways to ask

  1. Option 1

    In the NuHealth app

    1. 1Open the NuHealth app and sign in.
    2. 2Go to Profile › Settings and tap Delete Account.
    3. 3Confirm with your password.
  2. Option 2

    On the web

    1. 1Sign in at patient.nuhealth.co.za.
    2. 2Open Privacy & POPIA and choose Delete My Account, then confirm with your password.
  3. Option 3

Without the app or a password

    1. 1Email [email protected] from the email address on your account, with the subject “Delete my NuHealth account”.
    2. 2We confirm it is you before we act, and reply within 5 working days.

What happens next

  • Your account is scheduled for deletion 30 days after you ask. You can cancel within those 30 days by signing in or emailing us.
  • Any active subscription stops renewing. Store subscriptions are cancelled in the App Store or Google Play.
  • After 30 days your profile, contact details, health tracking (vitals, programmes, journals), Dr LYNX chats, NuHealth Social posts and messages, saved addresses and preferences are erased. This cannot be undone.

What we must keep

South African law requires some records to be kept after an account closes: consultation notes, prescriptions, sick notes and other records a registered clinician issued (HPCSA and the National Health Act), and invoices and payment records (tax law). These are kept for the period the law sets, no longer, and are no longer linked to your name in the app. Anything we keep stays protected under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).
